Through his powerful and evocative lyrics, he channeled the pain and experiences of his tumultuous past, shining a light on the atrocities of war while advocating for peace and reconciliation.

Emmanuel has used his platform and influence to spread peace as an activist and be able to get recognition from known celebrities like Alicia Keys, George Clooney, and The Elders. Emmanuel Jal joined NIDO as an ambassador in 2022. Emmanuel was a huge part of our Black History Month event in Toronto, Stories of The Diaspora featuring Suubi Fusion Troupe and Minnijean Brown Trickey.

Moses Ndiema Kipsiro

In the realm of Ugandan sports, one name stands tall as a symbol of Olympic glory and national pride: Moses Ndiema Kipsiro. Born and raised in Kapchorwa, a small town nestled in the stunning landscapes of Uganda, Kipsiro would rise to become a true legend in the world of long-distance running.

From his earliest days, Kipsiro displayed an exceptional talent and love for running. With unwavering determination, he honed his skills on the rugged trails and undulating hills of his homeland. Guided by an unyielding work ethic and a relentless pursuit of greatness, Kipsiro set his sights on conquering the Olympic stage.

His journey to the Olympics was not without its challenges. Kipsiro faced formidable opponents and grueling training regimes, but his resolve never wavered. He proved his mettle on numerous occasions, capturing the attention of the global athletics community with his impressive performances and record-breaking achievements.

Kipsiro’s crowning moment arrived at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London, where he etched his name in Ugandan sports history. In a display of unrivaled strength and stamina, he claimed the bronze medal in the 10,000 meters, solidifying his status as one of Africa’s finest long-distance runners.

Beyond the accolades and triumphs, Kipsiro’s impact extends far beyond the realm of athletics. He has become an inspiration and role model for aspiring athletes in Uganda and beyond, embodying the values of discipline, perseverance, and unwavering determination. Off the track, Kipsiro is known for his humility and commitment to giving back. He uses his platform to advocate for the development of sports infrastructure and opportunities for young athletes in Uganda.
